Kottarakkara Sree Mahaganapathy Kshethram
It is one of the old and famous pilgrim centre in South India. This Ganapati temple is located in Kottarakkara which
is 25 km from Kollam.The deities of this temple are Parama Shiva,Parvati Devi, Sree Maha Ganapati, Sree Murukan, Sree
Ayyappan, and Nagaraja. Even though main deity is Parama Shiva, main priority is given to Sree Maha Ganapati. The main
offerings of the temple are Unni Appam and Pushpanjali.The thiruvathira festival at the famed Kottarakara Ganapathy temple
is held in the Malayalam months Meenam/Medam (April). This well-known temple has a rare specialty that makes it different
from many other ganapathy temples. The fact is this is a Siva temple, but it is not known by the principal deity's name.
The principal deity here is Paramasiva having an eastward darshan and ganapathy is in fact an upadevan here. Moreover, the
Ganapathy idol here was not installed according to the tantra rituals. Still people generally know this temple as a ganapathy
temple. Legend has it that it was it was Perumthachan who installed the ganapathy idol here.
Padmanabhapuram Palace
Manor of erstwhile Venad kings, Padmanabhapuram palace is a 16 the century marvel on wood. It flaunts the
dexterity of Kerala's master carpenters.Carved wooden ceilings, slatted shuttered windows, intricate
interlocking beams, sculpted door panels and pagoda like tiled roofs stand testimony to the deftness of

Kanakakkunnu Palace
Situated on a hillock in the museum compound in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city. This imposing, fine-looking
mansion of the Travancore Rajas is a stunning piece of architectural excellence of yore. At night, when the palace
premise is lit up, the gabled, pagoda style red brick structure comes alive, bringing to mind the majesty and
gallantry of kings Inside one can see large crystal chandeliers and exquisite pieces of royal furniture.
Chowara Beach
A virgin beach, 9 kms south of the renowned Kovalam Beach is the hot spot these days for the traveller. It offers
a harmonious combination of nature where you can enjoy lush greeneries, whispering sea breeze and the murmering surf.
And it is a "must visit" destinaation having heritage and Ayurvedic resorts like Somatheeram, SuryaSamudra and Manaltheeram.
Feeling a spent-cartridge after aquatics and beach activities. Get into an Ayurvedic massage centre-there are many such
centres- and lie down on the wooden lath for a herbal, body-toning massage. To make the visit memorable, go for a shopping
in handicrafts, jewellery and cloth shops spread across the shore. Food and accommodation suiting your purse is available

Within hailing distance of the capital city Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), is the Veli -Akkulam lagoon with a
delightful waterfront park growing increasingly popular among the natives and tourists alike.The main attraction
at Veli is water - a large inland lake, separated from the ocean by only a narrow sandbar. For a few rupees, rides
can be had in motor-driven safari launches and power boats, or a family can drift about in a pedal-boat or a row boat.
